Draft horses
These somewhat clumsy, very muscular horses with beautiful 'socks' stood in the meadow near the village of Nisse. They are held in high esteem in Zeeland and are now mainly used for ring riding and the 'straô'.

Oosterschelde, inlet Kats
Small inlet of the Oosterschelde with pier at the village of Kats. Kats has disappeared twice in the waves in the past. On the pier a lonely tree. On the other side Zuid-Beveland.

Pileheads
The typical Zeeland groynes have been around for 500 years and are part of the cultural heritage. They slow down the effect of waves and tides and thus protect the beach. The painted pile (or beach) heads are located between Zoutelande and Dishoek on the southwest side of Walcheren. A heavy downpour was approaching.

Old beet harbour 'Oyster Pit'
The little harbour on the Oosterschelde is located between Wissenkerke and Colijnsplaat. Until the 80s in use as a sugar beet harbour. The inner dike Oyster pit ('Oesterput'} is a water body ('inlaag') with breeding birds and the harrier.

The Deesche Watergang is a wetland area between Goes and Kattendijke. It consists of a salt marsh, a creek remnant with reed edges and meadows. It is a breeding and resting place for many birds.

Traditional Catholic costume on the island of Zuid-Beveland. 'Zeeuws meisje' or in English "Zeeland 'girl' refers to a well-known advertisement for butter. The posture and face (of Marilyn Monroe) make this no longer a 'girl'.

Small Harber Oyster pits
Small harbour on the Oosterschelde of the fishing village of Yerseke. Oysters are stored in the oyster pits (cultural heritage) and freed of sand and silt. There they come to rest before being brought to the market.
